Portfolio secures new deals for pre-school hit heading into MIPTV

Toronto, Canada – 4 March 2021 – Portfolio Entertainment’s Distribution Division has secured a new round of global sales for its action-packed animated series Hero Elementary. Leading the pack is Discovery Kids Latin America, which has acquired all 40 episodes. Aimed at kids aged 4-7, Portfolio has also recently closed deals with TVB (Hong Kong), City Saskatchewan (Canada) and the American Forces Radio and Television Service for all offshore US Military Bases. Hero Elementary will also be heading to MIPTV as part of Portfolio’s slate of new and established titles available at the market.

Hero Elementary currently airs in a host of international territories with broadcast partners including: PBS Kids (US), Discovery Inc. (MENA), Minika (Turkey), YLE (Finland) and KAN (Israel). British Columbia’s Knowledge Network and Ontario’s TVO have acquired rights in Canada.

“We are delighted that Hero Elementary has found a home at Discovery Kids Latin America, a network with an outstanding parent stamp of approval,” said Donnie MacIntyre, Vice President of Sales and Business Development at Portfolio Entertainment. “We are confident that young Latam viewers will love the exciting action and side-splitting hijinks of our super team of aspiring kid heroes.”

Hero Elementary (40 x 22’ or 80 x 11’) follows the pupils of the titular institution – but it’s no ordinary school. It’s where kids with superpowers learn how to use their unique gifts, and no aspiring superhero could dream of a more exciting place to train! At Hero Elementary, the gym is a veritable obstacle course, festooned with a myriad of trapezes, hoops and boobytraps.  Sky-high towers dot the courtyard so that students can practice leaping over tall buildings in a single bound.  And of course, there is more high-tech gadgetry than any kid (superhero or not) could dream of.
